I’m the in process of upgrading a Joomla 1.5 website to Joomla 3 using jUpgrade. The upgrade itself went smoothly, but when I installed JComment and tried to import the comments from !JoomlaComment, none of them were showing up under the articles, and in JComment it looked like all comments were to the homepage, as they all had the homepage title under “Content Item Title.” I came up empty when doing a web search for a solution, and that’s why I decided to write this post.
I noticed some of the columns in the JComment backend were empty, but I wasn’t sure what a good comment was supposed to look like, so I posted one to see. Sure enough, the “Component” column of the new comment read “com_content” and that column was empty for all of the imported comments.
I looked at the JComments table in phpMyAdmin to see that the “Component” column in the JComment backend corresponded to the “object_group” column in the database.
I ran the following SQL query in phpMyAdmin:
Update ‘J25_comments’ set ‘object_group’ = “com_content”;
That populated each row with the proper data, and the comments immediately showed up as they should.
Hope that helps someone!
