Last Day for Seward Johnson Bronze Sculptures in Downtown Pleasanton

June 30th marked the final day of display in downtown Pleasanton for the bronze sculptures created by artist Seward Johnson. The life-size bronze statues depict people from different walks of life, and have been displayed in downtown Pleasanton since April 1st. The sculptures have been a novelty and a great photo opportunity for many visiting Pleasanton. My daughter, however, said the sculptures “creep her out” and is glad to see them go. I kind of liked them, but maybe 3 months was just about the right amount of time for their Pleasanton visit.

I don’t think they are creepy and by the looks of the droves of people that came out to interact with and enjoy the sculptures between 4/1/10 – 6/30/10…most people liked them. In fact, I miss them. At least we still have our veteran in bronze sitting out in fromnt of the veteran’s building on Main street. He saves a place on the bench next to him for you. If you come on memorial day or veteran’s day, you will see gifts of flowers left in honor of him and all the veteran’s we owe tribute.
